Habib El Jacifi, executive chef and owner of Fiore Restaurant in Concord.
Habib grew up in Casablanca, Morocco and spent his childhood learning the secrets of cooking from his Mom, Malika. She taught him how to blend French, Spanish, Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine to create masterpieces. She is the inspiration for all his culinary creations. She was the one who encouraged him to go see the world and he came to the San Francisco in 1999.
From the moment he got off the plane, he explored the city. Habib immediately fell in love with all the amazing culinary delights in San Francisco and dreamed of opening his own restaurant someday soon.
Habib went to local restaurants and begged to be their intern. After jumping from restaurant to restaurant, he had the great opportunity to help open Luna Ristorante in Concord in 2000. Chef Abdel Redouane took him under his wing and classically trained him and mentored him. From there and 5 years later Nibblers Eatery and Wine Bar in Pleasant Hill. He benefited greatly during his time at the local restaurants and it inspired him to open his own in his community.
On June 9th, 2008, with a lot of help from family, friends and the community, Habib opened his first restaurant, Fiore. His goal is to give customers a fine dining experience at an affordable price in their own backyard with local and regional fresh produce. It was his dreams come true. It has been very successful and the local community has embraced us as “The best kept secret in Concord.”
In early 2010, his brother, Youssef Jacifi, who had helped him open Fiore, came to him to bring a new idea. “Let’s open another restaurant.” 6 months later on July 25th, 2010, Habib opened his second restaurant, Bravo Bistro in Pleasant Hill.
He is very grateful for all of the support of all his family, friends, staff and community for making us a continued success.
